Teeth Whitening

Teeth Whitening is ideal for people who have healthy, unrestored teeth (no fillings), and gums. Individuals with yellow tones to their teeth respond best.

Tray-based teeth whitening systems involve filling a mouthguard-like tray with a gel-whitening solution. The whitening solution contains a peroxide-bleaching agent. Wear the tray for a couple hours per day, to every day during the night, for up to four weeks.

How long do the whitening effects last?

Whitening is not permanent. People who expose their teeth to foods and beverages that cause staining may see the whiteness fade over time. These individuals may need to do another whitening treatment or touch-up as needed.

How white will my teeth get?

The degree of whiteness will vary from individual to individual, depending on the condition of the teeth, nature of the stains, type of bleaching system used, and length of use.

Will my teeth be sensitive after whitening?

Some patients experience sensitivity, which usually improves within a day. There is also a desensitizing agent that can be placed in the trays; this also helps decrease the sensitivity.
